How to install Universal Tracking System?
Unpack the downloaded file to a directory on your hard drive. Double click the
UTSsetup.exe (if you got UTS),
UTSWTsetup.exe (if you got UTS Weight),
UTSBPsetup.exe (if you got UTS Blood Pressure),
setup_bp.exe and setup_weight.exe (if you got UTS MEGA Bundle),
to run the installer that will guide you through installation process. After the synchronization
you will see the program icon at your Palm device.

Can UTS software be installed on the memory card?
Yes. If you run Palm OS 4.1 or higher use UTStoCard utility (bundled with UTS) to move UTS components to the memory card safely.

The UTS installer put the UTS User Guide on your desktop computer.
Launch "Programs/Universal Tracking System for Palm OS/UTS User Guide"
from your "Start" menu to open the file.

Databases
How to install a new database?
You can download free databases from
www.utracksys.com/databases or
create it yourself. Install a database to your Palm device with Hotsync.
Launch UTS, hit "Data/Install" Database menu item.
Select the installed database from the list and tap the "Install" button.
How to create a new database on your Desktop?
Prepare a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file
that contains all the source information in the format described in
UTS User Manual. There're many tools that can produce files in CSV format;
MS Excel and MS Access can do this. As soon as you get the CSV file ready,
launch UTSPDBCreator.exe, press the "Open CSV" button and select the
CSV file in the File Open dialog box. If the file is opened successfully,
press the "Create PDB" button and specify the PDB file in the File Save
dialog box. Install new database as described in the previous topic.
How to edit existing database on your Desktop?
Download free database from
www.utracksys.com/databases.
Along with prepared PDB files the archive also contains data in
Comma Separated Value (CSV) file.
Edit this file as you wish and create your own database as described in the
previous topic.
How to speed up synchronization with Desktop?
When your UTS database has grown up, the system backup of UTS database can
take up a certain time during synchronization.
Uncheck "Backup Data On Hotsync" in "Option/Preferences" dialog box to
disable the database backup.
How to delete old values from UTS database?
Run "Data/Purge Values" dialog box, set the date to purge the values before,
and tap "Purge" button. All values before the specified date will be
deleted.
How to copy the data to/from memory card or restore the
data from Backup synchronization folder on Desktop?
To copy the UTS database you must copy ALL following resources:
CSInstalledDB
CSItemIndexDB
CSItemsDB
CSMattersDB
CSTargetsDB
CSUnitsDB
CSValueIndexDB
CSValuesDB
DO NOT mix the files of different backup versions.
To restore the data you must copy ALL these resources back to Palm.
It's better to remove the UTS software from Palm before restoring, and
then install UTS again together with data backup.
At first launch, the program checks the data integrity, sorts records,
and recreates indexes if needed.
Working with UTS
How to add a new item into the list quickly?
On the "Quick Entry Screen" pick a matter category.
Tap button 
on
the left of the "Item:" label to edit the item list. Use "New" button
to add an item.
How to edit a value?
There are two ways to edit the value. You can either tap
value's label or an
icon
in the "Last 10 values" list or pick Data/Values menu item and choose a
value from the list.
How to add a value with time-stamp that differs from current time?
The easiest way is to pick Data/Values menu item.
Tap date button in the top right corner and set the date needed.
Then hit "New" button in the list of values and set the value's time
in the "Edit value" dialog by using spin buttons. You can also set the date needed
right in the "Edit value" dialog.
How to speed up an item selection from the list on the "Quick Entry Screen"?
There are two ways:
1. If the item list is sorted alphabetically, then tap button
on the
left of the "Item:" label and use Lookup field to locate the item.
2.
Set the items sorting type to "Manual" in the "Option/Preferences" dialog box.
Activate the "Items" screen for corresponding matter and drag-n-drop
the often used items to the top of the list.
Why the button on the "Quick Entry Screen" sometimes has "Start" label and sometimes has "Add" label?
If the tracked matter means time interval (e.g. activity's time) you see an
animated clock and the button has "Start" label, because it starts the timer.
In any other case the button named as "Add", because it just adds a record to
the database - the numeric pad is displayed instead of clock animation.
What is timer and how I can use it?
Timers are used to keep track of time spent on any activity.
On the "Quick Entry Screen" select an item of the matter that is measured in
time intervals and tap "Start" button. The timer will be added to the "Timers"
list at the bottom of the screen. To stop the timer tap the clock
icon or
label
of the corresponding timer. After the timer has been stopped UTS automatically
calculates the time elapsed and saves it in the values database.
How to record the time interval directly rather than tracking it with a timer?
Activate "Values" screen and tap "New" button.
In the "Edit value" dialog set the value's time by using spin buttons.
Can I change the target's measurement units?
Yes, but only to depended units (e.g. mm to cm). After the target's units
are changed all recorded and default values of the target will be recalculated.
How to use time granularity?
If you wish the tracked time intervals to be divisible by a certain period
(e.g. by 5 minutes or by 1 hour), set the time granularity when editing
a matter of 'Time' type. Use pull-down list to choose a minimal time interval.
For example, if you set the time granularity '5 min' the elapsed time of 3 minutes
will be stored as 5 minutes, 12 minutes - as 15 minutes, 39 minutes -
as 40 minutes, and so on.
How to see the values that compound the day's total?
If you want to see the detailed elaboration of a day's total value, tap any
chart bar or table row to drill down the raw values when viewing results on
the 'Chart-Table' screen.
How to hide the date shown in 'Last 10 values'?
To turn off the values' date shown in 'Last 10 values' run "Option/Preferences" dialog box and uncheck "Show date in 'Last 10 values'".
How to export data onto desktop PC?
To setup UTS conduit to store exported data into XLS (or CSV) file:
1. Hit "Custom..." item of HotSync tray icon menu on your PC
2. Select "UTS conduit" and press Change...
3. Check "Export Tracking Data"
4. Set "To Excel" (or "To CSV")
5. Specify the XLS-files (or CSV-files) for export results (UTSData is set by
default)
6. Set "HotSync Action for UTS" to "Synchronize the files"
7. Press OK
After HotSync has completed open the XLS-file (or CSV-file).
If UTS Blood Pressure and-or UTS Weight plug-ins installed:
Blood Pressure and-or Weight tracking results with chart are inserted as separate sheets (if exported to the MS Excel).
Is there a user guide?
The User Guide's shortcut is in 'Universal Tracking System for Palm OS\...' program
group of your PC's 'Start' menu.
The PDF file itself is in the UTS program directory (most likely:
"C:\Program Files\uts\...").

UTS Weight and UTS Blood Pressure plugins
I purchased the UTS bundled with a plugin after downloading the trial version. Upon
installation of the program the Weight and Blood Pressure programs work correctly
but the Universal Tracking System is still the trial version. What to do?
Please reinstall the commercial copy of UTS: Launch setup.exe and select
"I have NOT a UTS installed on my Palm..." radio button. It's important.
So, the trial copy of UTS will be replaced with a full one.
